The famous Skoda Auto India have finally managed to launch its much anticipated edition ‘Kodiaq’ today which is a 7-seater SUV priced at Rs 34,49,501 across the country.
It will be competing against the segment leaders like the Toyota Fortuner, the Ford Endeavour and the Volkswagen Tiguan. The Skoda Kodiaq, named after the Kodiak bear found in Archipelago, Alaska, is built on the Volkswagen’s MQB platform.
Already unveiled the Skoda Kodiaq at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, the Czech automaker has launched the Kodiaq in the Indian market today. In the global market, Skoda has already sold 48,300 units in February 2017; and the automaker is expecting the same kind response from the Indian market.
As the SUV market is growing at a rapid rate, 46 per cent year-on-year, along with the consumers’ shifting preferences – from sedans to SUVs, the Czech auto giant launches the best vehicle to win the SUV game in the country.
As against the boxy SUVs in the Indian market, Skoda Auto has offered the Kodiaq with a stunning design language and a host of new features.
The company has consistently played the card in the premium sedan segment – right from the Octavia, the Laura, and the Superb; along with a compact SUV, the Yeti, which it discontinued due to poor sales volumes.
In terms of design, the SUV sports Skoda’s signature radiator grille, along with 2-tier headlamps and a stylish bumper with fog lamp inserts; while at the rear, the SUV gets wraparound tail lamps, an integrated spoiler and a raked-in windshield.
The side profile of the Kodiaq looks visually appealing with flat tyres and squared wheel arches, along with sharp shoulder line running, along the window line.
Inside, the well-laid out dashboard sports vertically positioned AC vents, and Skoda’s Connect Touchscreen system with an 8-inch screen, which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The Indian spec Skoda Kodiaq is powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, which churns out 150Ps of power and a peak torque of 350Nm. It comes mated to a 7-speed DSG auto-box.
The vehicle will be on sale, across all the Skoda authorized dealerships in India from today.
In Skoda India’s overall product line-up, the Kodiaq is placed just above the premium sedan Superb; and unlike its competition having a long list of variants, the Kodiaq will be available in just one variant.
