New Delhi: Poonam Azad wife of suspended Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Member of Parliament Kriti Azad is likely to join Aaam Admi Party (AAP) on November 13th.
The AAP leader Sanjay Sharma told media persons, after having meeting with Poonam at her residence today said: She will officially join the AAP on 13th November.
Poonam although refused to comment on this latest development, by saying that she would only speak after joining the AAP.
Earlier, Poonam contested state assembly election in the year 2003 against Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and currently she was serving as a spokesperson of the BJP’s Delhi’s unit.
According to close source of her told media persons, that she was annoyed with the BJP leadership for ignoring her although she had worked for the party for more than 20 years.
A close aide of Poonam Azad told journalists, “She was denied ticket in the last two assembly polls only because a senior BJP leader had reservations against the family. Even her son was denied ticket of MCD election.”
He added, “In the fight for self respect, she finally choose the AAP.”
Kirti Azad, elected to the Lok Sabha from Darbhanga in Bihar, was suspended by the BJP after he spoke against corruption in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) when it was headed by now Finance Minister and BJP stalwart Arun Jaitley.
