Lucknow: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) today released its third list of 67 candidates for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh state assembly elections, the Saffron party has field Laxman Maurya from Azamgarh’s Mubarapur seat who will be contesting polls against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
The party has so far announced the names of 370 candidates with no Muslim nominee among them. The election to the 403-member Assembly will take place in seven phases, starting February 11th.
The BJP is in talks with its allies Apna Dal and Bhartiya Samaj Party for the remaining 30 seats, party’s National General Secretary Arun Singh told reporters here while releasing the list of its candidates.
The list also includes name of former BSP leader Swamy Prasad Maurya, who has recently joined the Saffron Party, he will be BJP’s candidate from Padrona seat.
Besides Maurya, the party has also given tickets to R K Chaudhary and Dara Singh Chouhan, both have joined the BJP from BSP.
Some other names of candidates which have been included in the list are Ram Naresh Rawat has been fielded from Bachranwa, Suryabhan Singh (Sultanpur), Chandrapal Kushwaha (Baberu), R.K. Patel (Manikpur), Neelam Karveria (Meja) and Sharad Awasthi from Ramnagar.
Bajrang Bahadur is the party candidate from Farenda, Sameer Tripathi from Nautanwa, Fateh Bahadur from Campierganj, Vimlesh Paswan from Baansgaon, Rajesh Tripathi (Chillupar), former state unit president Surya Pratap Shahi from his traditional Pathardeva seat, Jai Nath Kushwaha from Bhatpaar Rani, Akhilesh Mishra from Azamgarh, the parliamentary constituency of SP mentor Mulayam Singh Yadav and Vinod Rai from Nizamabad.
Dara Singh Chauhan from Madhuban, Fagu Singh Chauhan from Ghosi, Girish Yadav from Jaunpur, Anita Rawat (Machlishahr), Anil Maurya from Ghorabal and Bhupesh Chaubey from Robertsganj, among others.
The seven-phase polls in the state will take place on February 11, 15, 19, 23, 27, March 4 and 8.
