New Delhi: Rudraprayag area of Uttarakhand was today hit with a cloudburst resulting in the closing of Rudraprayag-Badrinath highway. According to the sources, till now there has not been any news of casualty.
At the time when North India is reeling under a serious heatwave it was a big blow to the tourists and pilgrims present in Uttarakhand.
Due to the cloudburst, Rudraprayag-Badrinath highway was affected and traffic was at a standstill for an extended period subsequent to the incident.
There was a mudslide caused due to the cloudburst and rubble flowed toward the town of Rudraprayag. However, as per the information given by the local authorities, pilgrims travelling to Badrinath were escorted to safer areas after the incident took place.
