Death toll reaches to 149 in Indore-Patna Express train derailment

New Delhi: According to Home Ministry officials, the total number of death toll in day before yesterday’s Indore-Patna Express derailment near Kanpur rose to 149.




The Additional Director General Media, from Ministry of Home Affairs, K. S. Dhatwalia told media persons, “Out of the total 149 deaths, 125 dead bodies have been identified and out of 182 injured persons, 64 are seriously injured.”




On Monday, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu ordered a “forensic probe” in the country’s one of worst train accident till yet.

After pulling out more 25 bodies from the mangled coaches of the Indore-Patna Express that had derailed near Pukhrayan station, about 60 km from Kanpur city, the rescue teams called off their search operation.
