The process of nominations filing for the July 17 presidential election started today with the Election Commission of India (ECI) issuing a notification.
The nomination process will keep on going till June 28.
Both NDA and Opposition parties are working overtime to come up with a “mutually acceptable” presidential candidate. But if it does not occur, they can go their separate ways.
After remaining tight lipped for long, Amit Shah has constituted a three-member committee including the likes of Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley and M. Venkaiah Naidu which will hold discussions with everyone concerned.
On the other side of the coin, Opposition parties leaders will hold their meeting today to come up with a strategy to counter NDA.
