Imran Khan Takes Oath as Pakistan Prime Minister

Imran Khan today took oath as the Pakistan’s new prime minister. The PTI, led by 65-year-old Khan, had emerged as the single largest party in the National Assembly after the July 25 elections.

The legendary Pakistan skipper — who guided his team to their one and only World Cup title in 1992 — took oath as the PM on Saturday in Islamabad. Here are some of the images and videos of the much-talked out oath taking ceremony.

The former cricketer had invited three of his contemporary players from India, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev to his oath ceremony. Only Mr Sidhu made it to Pakistan for the event.

Party leaders Asad Qaiser, Chaudhry Sarwar and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi will be taking up the positions of National Assembly speaker, Punjab governor and Punjab Assembly speaker respectively for the new Imran Khan-led Pakistan government.

Wasim Akram, actor Javed Sheikh, Punjab governor designate Chaudhry Sarwar, Punjab Assembly speaker Pervez Elahi, Ramiz Raja, caretaker prime minister Nasir-ul-Mulk, PTI leaders, Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Zubair Mahmood Hayat, and Chief of Air Staff Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, attended Imran Khan’s swearing-in ceremony in Islamabad.
