Mumbai: Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan, who delivered a masterpiece performance in his last release ‘PK’, has achieved yet another milestone with the flick as the Rajkumar Hirani directorial has become first ever Indian film to fetch more than Rs. 300 crore at overseas box-office.
Pk, which shook the people’s blind belief in self-proclaimed Godmen and Godwomen, has done a fantastic business in countries like China, North America, Gulf, Britain and Australia.
A source associated with the film says, PK has paved way for other Indian films like Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Netherlands and Germany to go to different markets in the world of cinema and earn massive profits.
“Till now, the film has collected Rs.303 crore in overseas markets and still running in few territories like Hong Kong and South Korea. ‘PK’ had collected Rs.348 crore net in India and the combined total stands at (over) Rs.651 crore,” the source added. Director Rajkumar Hirani is a happy man.
“This film surprises me every month. It does well wherever it opens, last being Hong Kong. All I can say is there’s happiness,” Hirani said.Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra added “It’s so wonderful to know that we have crossed Rs.300 crore worldwide. To me, it means that Hindi cinema has now gone global.”
PK, which also stars Anushka Sharma and Sushant Singh Rajput as loves belonging to different religions as well as countries, features Aamir as an alien, who raises questions against all the beliefs in God-related activities after being left alone on Earth.
