New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today gave homage to Lala Lajpat Rai on his 151st birth anniversary and lauded his effort that the leader gave during Independence movement.
Modi said Lala Lajpat Rai was respected for his “fearlessness, impeccable integrity and fight against injustice.” Rai, popularly known as Punjab Kesari was part of the “Lal Bal Pal” trio.
Lala Lajpat Rai was also one amongst the three extremist members of the Indian National Congress who gave their life for the independence of India along with Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Bipin Chandra Pal.
Rai was born on January 28, 1865 and died on November 17, 1928. Hinduism, he believed, led to practices of peace to humanity, and the idea that when nationalist ideas were added to this peaceful belief system, a secular nation could be formed.
