NEW DELHI: The Election Commission today declared that polls for the post of Vice President will take place on August 5.
With Hamid Ansari due to retire on August 10, the next Vice President will soon be elected.
According to the schedule announced by Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi, the notification for the vice-presidential polls will be issued on July 4. Nominations can be filed until July 18, followed by their scrutiny on July 19. Candidatures can be withdrawn till July 21.
Polling to elect the new Vice-President will be held on August 5 between 10 am and 5 pm. The results will be declared on the same day. Ansari, who was first elected in August 2007, has completed two terms as Vice-President.
