Bengaluru: Actor Prakash Raj faced massive criticism from a section of netizens for calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ‘bigger actors’.
The versatile actor slammed Modi for his silence on the murder of senior journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh, who was a close friend of Prakash.
Calling Modi and Yogi bigger actors than him, Prakash Raj has said that he wants to return his national awards. He also expressed his anguish on the people who celebrated Gauri’s murder on social media.
“Some people who are followed by our prime minister on Twitter are so brutal, and we have a PM who has closed his eyes to it. If you see videos today from Uttar Pradesh, you will be confused if he (Yogi Adityanath) is the Chief Minsiter or the pujari (priest) of some temple. We have people doing such double roles. They have given me five national awards. I feel like giving it to them. These are bigger actors than me,” said Prakash.
People have strongly condemned his comments and trolled him on Twitter for slamming Modi.
Meanwhile, Prakash has clarified that he is not going to give back his awards.
