New Delhi: Rajnish Kumar has been appointed as the new chairman of State Bank of India on Wednesday. He will replace Arundhati Bhattacharya, who will retire on October 6.
Rajnish, who is currently the Managing director for the National Banking Group, started his career in SBI as a Probationary Officer in 1980. He is expected to get four-year term as chairman and MD.
Kumar will take over the mantle on October 7. He has a master’s degree in Physics and listed travelling and playing badminton among his interests.
Arundhati became the bank’s first woman chairman in 2013 and she was given a one year extension on October 2016. She will be remembered for her bold steps.
