India are riding high on confidence subsequent to the comprehensive home series win over West Indies. While Indian batsmen Rohit Sharma has made a statement alarming team India and said that Australia Test series will be different ball game altogether.
India has managed to get some big wins in unprecedented seventh Asia Cup title and a home series win over West Indies that included a whitewash in Tests and T20Is and a 3-1 win in ODIs. It will be a test of caliber, class and temperament for the Indian batters and bowlers in the Australia series despite the absence of Steve Smith and David Warner.
Rohit Sharma said: “Australia is always challenging when it comes to going out there and performing. Every time you go there, you are tested as a player, as an individual and as a team as well,” the veteran opener said on Sunday. “I think we have got to be at our best and when you win a series like this (West Indies) and when you play like that in the tournament you are high on confidence. It’s all about taking that confidence to Australia and doing what we did as a team.”
“Australia will be a different ball game I completely understand. But I think the things that we have been doing as a team and as a player, we keep repeating it,” he said. “The best teams in the world keep repeating those performances. It will be important for us that we start fresh. Not think about what we have done in the past.”
Indian team are fragile on foreign pitches and everyone knows it clearly and keeping in mind the earlier performance in 1-2 loss in South Africa Test and 1-4 humiliation in England this time round Indian team will be hoping to make a mark in Australia by making a winning start and maintain the sublime touch on Aussie pitches.
