According to recent study Vitamin D can comfort you in case of grave sun-ravaged skin and soothe your discomfort. Further, high dose of Vitamin intake after sunburn can reduce skin redness, swelling and inflammation.
In a research conducted by a group of researchers, 20 people received 50,000, 100,000, or 200,000 IU of vitamin D one hour after small UV lamp “sunburn” on their inner arm and then after collecting their skin biopsies sample they found that people with high intake of Vitamin D were not much affected by sunburn.
“We hypothesize that Vitamin D helps promote protective barriers in the skin by rapidly reducing inflammation. What we did not expect was that at a certain dose, vitamin D not only was capable of suppressing inflammation, it was also activating skin repair genes”, said one of the researchers.
